Q: We are remodeling a 1950's kitchen and want to remove the glue on the wall left from plastic tiles. What can we use?

I'm not sure what the glue is, but would denatured alcohol work? It's what a woman I just interviewed uses to get the thermofoil and glue off of cabinets that she's about to repaint.
A: glue removal
you could just scrape the walls to get the glue off then skim coat with drywall compound or plaster. This may ultimately be less work and be quickerl
