Q: Are carpet tiles a good idea or a terrible choice?

I have seen carpet tiles in magazines. You can make some really cool patterns. But, how do these look in real life? I think it could be something fun for my kids play room, but... I'm not sure how these come together. Any experience? Thanks!

Carpet tiles are an excellent choice for playrooms and game rooms. They look just like any other commercial-grade carpeting, and have the same feel underfoot as well. But the biggest benefit in my opinion would be the durability, and ease of installation/replacement. Carpet tiles tend to hold up very well to heavy traffic since they are commercial quality, and they are very easy to install- very DIY friendly. And if one section gets stained or damaged over time, it's as easy as peeling up the affected squares and replacing them with a new one.

If you need something durable, that will get a lot of use, can be easily replaced and you can customize it, yes. It is a great solution for home offices, playrooms, basements, and rec rooms. It is also great for odd shaped rooms. You can use them to make your very own area rug or runners. They are also usually a green product.

They are virtually seamless when installed and attach to each other, not the floor you are putting them on.

Make sure you buy a few extra in case of a spill or other accident so you have the right carpet tile to replace.
